Areas of Focus

Children & Youth

At the Thomas J. Henry Center for Philanthropy, investing in kids isn't just a cause—it’s a commitment to the future. Whether it’s through sports clinics, holiday giving, or family support homes, we aim to equip young people and families with hope, opportunity, and the tools they need to thrive.

Thomas J. Henry's believes every child deserves a chance to succeed. His journey from small-town beginnings to founding the largest personal injury firm in Texas wasn't just fueled by ambition—it was shaped by mentors, opportunities, and community support. Now, he pays it forward by giving children experiences, resources, and joy to build their own paths forward.

Tony Parker Skills Clinics

In 2012 and 2013, the Center sponsored Tony Parker’s Skills Clinics in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, giving boys and girls direct coaching from the NBA All-Star point guard himself. These day-long clinics were more than drills—they were moments of inspiration and encouragement, teaching confidence through sport.

Danny Green Skills Clinic

Continuing the tradition, in 2015 Thomas J. Henry brought NBA star Danny Green to Corpus Christi for a one-day training camp. The Center sponsored 25 children to attend for free, offering hands-on instruction, team building, and fun—all while hosting a food drive for the Food Bank of Corpus Christi.

Elf Louise Christmas Project Support

For multiple years, the Henry family has stood beside the Elf Louise Christmas Project, a beloved San Antonio initiative that delivers holiday toys to thousands of families. In 2014, the family pledged a 25% match up to $50,000 during the WOAI radio-thon—helping gift cheer to nearly 19,000 families. And in 2015, they renewed that pledge of $50,000 during the annual radiothon.

Ronald McDonald House Vehicle Donation

Recognizing the needs of families with hospitalized children, the Center donated three vehicles to the Corpus Christi Ronald McDonald House. These vehicles help families stay close to their little ones during critical medical care—lifting logistical burdens at a time when compassion matters most.

Uplifting Children. Strengthening Communities

Children and families often face steep barriers—whether it’s limited access to enriching programs, financial hardship, or the emotional weight of medical emergencies. The Thomas J. Henry Center for Philanthropy meets these challenges with youth-focused initiatives that create joyful experiences, provide practical resources, and foster resilience. From sports clinics that build confidence and connection to holiday giving and family support during times of crisis, each effort is designed to nurture not just individual kids, but the families and communities around them.
