TEXAS YES: Equipping Texas Students for Success
About the Project
What began in San Antonio in 2016 has blossomed into a statewide movement—TEXAS YES, supported by Thomas J. Henry, ensures that Title I elementary students across Texas start each school year prepared and empowered with school supplies. From humble beginnings in San Antonio, the initiative expanded to Corpus Christi in 2017, Austin in 2018, and the DFW area in 2022.

Who We Helped
TEXAS YES has brought educational tools and hope to students across major Texas regions:
- San Antonio — The program’s roots, where it first provided free school supplies to countless Title I students.
- Corpus Christi — Expanded in 2017, with donations valued at approximately $949,000 and nearly 69,000 school supply kits delivered.
- Austin — Joined in 2018, extending support to Title I elementary students across Central Texas.
- Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) — Added in 2022, further widening the reach of impactful giving.
Together, these communities reflect the broad and inclusive reach of TEXAS YES, touching hundreds of thousands of young learners across the Lone Star State.
Our Goal
The mission of TEXAS YES is clear and meaningful:
- To provide every student with essential school supplies that unlock opportunity and reinforce educational equity.
- To scale from city to state level, ensuring no student is left behind due to lack of basic tools.
- To create lasting impact, with over half a million kits distributed by 2025 and nearly $7 million in school supplies delivered.
Thomas J. Henry’s sustained commitment underscores a powerful belief: education begins with preparation—and every child deserves the fundamental tools to learn and grow.
Program Highlights
- In August 2023, Thomas J. Henry teamed with TEXAS YES to deliver over 85,000 supply kits to 172 schools statewide, including 10,000 each in Corpus Christi and Austin, 30,000 in San Antonio, and 35,000 across DFW.
- By late 2025, the partnership will have donated more than 503,000 school supply kits statewide, with Thomas J. Henry’s total impact valued at nearly $7 million.
- Each kit includes essentials like crayons, colored pencils, notebooks, erasers, glue sticks, folders, rulers, pens, pencils, and tissues.
- In Corpus Christi, the “Box of Dreams” distribution at Rose Shaw Elementary illustrated the local impact, as Title I students received full kits tailored for classroom success.
Making a Difference
TEXAS YES has become a cornerstone of educational philanthropy in Texas:
- Empowering over half a million students by providing the tools needed to start school with confidence.
- Extending reach from San Antonio to Corpus Christi, Austin, and DFW, building bridges of support for underserved communities.
- Demonstrating the power of targeted, sustained giving to transform a child’s school experience—and their future.
