About the Project
For more than 25 years, the Thomas J. Henry Turkey Giveaway has brought warmth and hope to Texas families during the holiday season. This year, we are renewing the process by distributing 6,000 turkey vouchers to local families in need in the Corpus Christi area.

Event Details
- From Sunday, November 16th, through Thursday, November 20th, the Thomas J. Henry Center for Philanthropy (1102 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78404) will hand out 6,000 turkey vouchers.
- Vouchers will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day.
- 2,000 vouchers will be available Sunday, November 16th. 1,000 vouchers will be handed out all other days.
- Vouchers will be distributed through a convenient drive-thru along the southbound lanes of Shoreline Blvd. Drivers should access the drive-thru line via Coopers Alley.
- Vouchers are limited to 1 voucher per adult per vehicle, with a maximum of 2 vouchers per vehicle.
- Vouchers are valid only at H-E-B 3033 S. Port Ave. Corpus Christi, TX 78415 between November 16th and 30th.

- To provide free turkeys to thousands of Texas families every Thanksgiving
- To preserve the spirit of the holiday season for those facing economic hardship
- To unite the community in a celebration of giving, compassion, and shared tradition
Attorney and philanthropist Thomas J. Henry started the Turkey Giveaway to address a simple but profound need—ensuring that every family could gather for a Thanksgiving meal with dignity.
Who We Help
The Turkey Giveaway focuses on reaching households across South Texas that might otherwise struggle to afford a holiday meal. Recipients included:
- Low-income families seeking relief from rising food costs
- Seniors living on fixed incomes
- Single-parent households working to make ends meet
- Families served by local food banks and nonprofits
These efforts ensured that Thanksgiving remained a season of abundance, gratitude, and connection for the entire community.

The Turkey Giveaway became a cornerstone of holiday giving in South Texas:

- Created a foundation for larger-scale impact, paving the way for the 2024 launch of the Thomas J. Henry Feast of Texas, which expanded the tradition to provide millions of meals statewide.
The spirit of the Turkey Giveaway lives on through the Feast of Texas, continuing its mission of feeding families and uplifting communities across the Lone Star State.
